Sprite Camper
The walls were re-framed and re skinned with aluminum sheathing. The interior was also checked for mold, rot and structural damage and a door was constructed to protect the interior from the elements.
In the fall of 2023 while poking around craigslist, I came across this old camper that had been listed for free. Its owner worked rehabbing old campers from the 60’s and 70’s but was retiring and wanted to unload this as a lost cause on some unsuspecting internet DIYer. He’d been using it mostly as a trash can, tossing bits and pieces of other campers he didn’t need but couldn’t throw away. It was missing most of one of its walls, the tires held air but only for about an hour or so and the interior had been stripped down to a few rotting studs. It seemed like a perfect project to keep me busy
The interior was slow but steady in terms of construction. Starting from the top and working our way down the shell was insulated and sheathed, then hardwood flooring was installed along with wheel wells that were later turned into benches
